This Generation

   Matthew 24:
32 Now learn the parable of the fig tree; when his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh.. .
Israel put forth its leaves when it became a nation on May 14, 1948.
33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
Strong's Concordance defines generation as: age (the period or the person).
Psalm 90 defines the age or lifespan of man as 70 to 80 years: Psalm 90:10 -
The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years...
So, the generation spoken of in Matthew 24 is between 70 and 80 years.
Israel became a nation on May 14, 1948. We should therefore expect our Lord's return to earth somewhere between 2018 and 2028.
Because our Lord's return to earth is at the end of the seven-year Great Tribulation, we who believe that Jesus died and rose again can look forward to being caught up together with him in the air between 2011 and 2021.
I Thessalonians 4: 14-17 - For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

I Thessalonians 5: 9-10 - For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
