PEACE LIKE A RIVER
Many believers have trusted Christ as their Savior and yet have little peace of heart. They long for such an experience but seem incapable of finding it. To those we dedicate these few words, and pray that “the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always by all means.” 2 Thessalonians 3:16
Finding the peace of God is much like finding the salvation of God. When you were saved, three things happened to you:
1 You heard the Word that Christ died for your sins.
2 You believed in Christ as your personal Savior.
3 God saved you.
To find the peace of God, you must follow the same procedure:
1 Find what God’s Word says about peace.
2 Believe what God says and appropriate it to yourself personally.
3 God will give you the “peace that passeth understanding.” Phil. 4:7
This is what God’s Word says about peace:
“Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:6, 7 RSV
“Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 3:13, 14
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee.” Isa. 26:3
“The chastisement of our peace was upon Him: and with His stripes we are healed.” Isa. 53:5
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace…” Gal. 5:22
“Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body: and be ye thankful.” Col. 3:15
“These things I have spoken to you, that in me ye might have peace.” John 16:33
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Rom. 5:1
